Ippolito 1845

With over 170 years of history, Ippolito is the oldest winery in Calabria. Located in the historic center of Cirò Marina, the heart of Calabrian viticulture, the farm includes a 100-hectare agricultural estate, distributed between rolling hills and sunny plains near the Ionian Sea. The company mission has always been the recovery of traditions through the enhancement of native vines, the protection of the territory, intended as an ecosystem to defend and preserve.

THE WHITES

Mare chiaro

Ciró DOC Bianco. 100% Greco Bianco, an ancient native grown that thrives near the sea. Grapes are harvested in two passes a week apart bringing freshness and aroma from the first round and structure from the second. Notes of peach and white flower lead to a fresh palate with a saline finish. Tech Sheet

Ciró DOC Rosato. 100% Gaglioppo named for an eleventh century Norman princess, a nod the regions rich history of conquerers. Grapes are hand harvested and macerated on the skins for 24 hours leading to a brilliant color and crisp notes of sour cherry. Tech Sheet

The Reds


Liber pater

Ciró DOC Rosso. 100% Gaglioppo, named for the Roman god of viticulture, fertility and freedom. A careful selection of grapes aged for 8 months in barrique, with a ruby color and complex aromas of wild berries and spices.. Tech Sheet


I Mori

Calabria IGT Rosso. 70% Gaglioppo, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, a modern blend of the most ancient native grape of Calabria and the reigning leader of Bordeaux. Grapes are harvested in the middle of October and aged for 12 months in barrique. A deep ruby red color is ripe with red fruit and has notes of vanilla and balsamic on the palate.

Ciró DOC Rosso Classico Superiore Riserva. 100% Gaglioppo from a single vineyard in the heart of Ciró. An extended maceration on the skins, followed by 12 months in oak, leads a ruby colored wine with aromas of wild cherry and plum followed by subtle warming spices and vanilla.


160 anni

Calabria IGT. 100% Gaglioppo produced in a style typically found in the Veneto region ,with a combination of grapes air-dried on mats for one month after the harvest and freshly harvested grapes followed by a year in oak barrels. The appassimento method brings great depth to the wine with mature notes of violets and raisins. Tech Sheet

Ciró DOC Rosso Classico Superiore Riserva. 100% Gaglioppo from forty year old vineyards and aged in the cellar for 10 years before release. A powerful wine, produced only the best years, ruby red in color with garnet hues due to aging, and intense nose of wild berry, dried roses, licorice and tabacco followed by delicate and savory tannins.
